County of Monterey Congratulates Director Lee Ann Magoski on Becoming President of National 9-1-1 Association
Monterey County, CA – The County of Monterey is proud to recognize and congratulate Lee Ann Magoski, Director of
the County’s Emergency Communications Department, on her recent appointment as President of the National
Emergency Number Association (NENA): The 9-1-1 Association.
Sworn in during the NENA 2025 Conference & Expo in Long Beach, California, in June, Magoski now leads an
organization of more than 23,000 emergency communications professionals across the United States and around the
globe. Her presidency reflects not only her nearly 30 years of dedicated service in public safety communications but also
the caliber of leadership that the County is honored to support.
“Lee Ann Magoski’s presidency is a milestone not only for her career but also for our region,” said Sonia M. De La Rosa,
County Administrative Officer. “Her leadership, vision, and advocacy in advancing public safety technology and
supporting our emergency communications workforce set a national example.”
Magoski began her public safety career as a 9-1-1 telecommunicator and steadily advanced through the ranks at
three other California public safety agencies before assuming her current role in 2019, where she oversees the
County’s consolidated emergency communications system. In her remarks at the conference, she called for urgent
action to modernize 9-1-1 infrastructure nationwide and to provide more substantial support for the professionals on
the front lines.
“Our vision for nationwide, ubiquitous Next Generation 9-1-1 must become a reality,” Magoski stated. “That means not
only deploying the technology but also building a next-generation workforce—highly trained and fully equipped to
harness its potential.”
As President of NENA, Magoski will focus on innovation, advocacy, workforce development, and modernization of public
safety, including support for artificial intelligence (AI) tools, occupational reclassification, and enhanced data strategies.
The County extends its heartfelt congratulations to Lee Ann Magoski on this prestigious national appointment and looks
forward to the transformative leadership she will bring to the emergency communications field, both locally and
nationwide.
