1 Male Adult and 4 Juveniles Arrested for Allegedly Killing 1 Male Juvenile in King City on February 28

 

The King City Police Department reports that on Friday night, February 28, 2025 at approximately 9:30 PM,  a 17 year old male juvenile was riding his bicycle north on Third Street in King City when he was approached by 4-5 assailants unknown to him who had handguns and shot the victim numerous times.  The subjects then fled on foot northbound.

     King City Police Officers were dispatched to the reported shooting and upon arrival the victim was conscious and alert and provided a brief statement to officers while medical aid was rendered.  The victim was transported to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas by ambulance where he unfortunately succumbed to the gunshot wounds. 

     During the investigation, concerned residents contacted police with a report of suspicious people jumping into backyards. King City Police Officers responded, along with Officers from the Greenfield PD, the Soledad PD and the Monterey County Sheriff’s Department. Through the use of a drone from Monterey County Sheriff’s Department and officers conducting searches, Suspect 20-year-old Adrian Pineda Juarez and 3 male juveniles were located and detained in possession of 2 firearms matching the type used at the crime scene. Through further investigation, a 5th suspect was contacted at a residence in King City and was subsequently arrested. The 4 juveniles were booked into the Monterey County Juvenile Detention Center and Juarez was booked into the Monterey County Jail charged with Homicide, Conspiracy and Committing a Crime for the advancement of a Criminal Street Gang. 

The King City Police Department thanks their allied Law Enforcement Partners for their assistance which resulted in the apprehension and arrest of the suspects.

King City City Council Announces Selection of José Arreola as New City Manager

  January 7, 2025-Following an extensive recruitment process, José Arreola has been selected by the King City City Council to be its next City Manager. Arreola will replace Steve Adams, who is retiring after serving in the position for the past 10 years. Arreola was selected from 31 applicants and 8 finalists for the position. King City CHP is searching for person of interest who fled the scene of a fatal crash in Greenfield

On Monday, September 16 at approximately 3:50 pm, a fatal traffic collision occurred on Metz Road south of Elm Avenue in Greenfield.  The driver who caused the collision fled on foot and is currently outstanding.  The California Highway Patrol King City Area is currently seeking the whereabouts of 31-year-old Agustin Santana-Moncada of King City who has been identified as a person of interest in the case.  The King City Area is requesting assistance from the public in locating Santana-Moncada.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the King City Area office at (831) 385-3216.
