Farm Bureau Honors Congressman Jimmy Panetta as Friend of Agriculture

In partnership with local County Farm Bureaus, American Farm Bureau has honored Congressman Jimmy Panetta as a Friend of the Farm Bureau for his support of Agriculture throughout the past 2 year legislative session.

The Friend of Farm Bureau Award is presented to legislators who have advocated for and protected the interest of Agriculture in their legislative work. While American Farm Bureau’s scoring rubric was much more limited due to a rather unproductive legislative session, Congressman Panetta has supported key priorities for farmers and ranchers throughout the past 2 years.

Presenting this award to Congressman Panetta were representatives from Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz Counties, all within the District that Congressman Panetta serves.

Congressman Panetta has been a leader on national farming issues, including the long-delayed Farm Bill. Efforts to secure relief programs during natural disasters, such as the flooding of 2023, as well as funding for water resource infrastructure have aided the local agricultural communities within his District along the Central Coast of California.

“It is of great benefit to have a strong advocate for farming and ranching with Congressman Panetta,” states Norm Groot, Executive Director of Monterey County Farm Bureau. “Even though the District was realigned in Monterey County, Mr. Panetta continues to hold strong with his support of local farming and ranching, both through legislative efforts and his engagement with federal agencies.”

Farm Bureau salutes Congressman Jimmy Panetta for his tireless efforts on behalf of all Central Coast residents and businesses, and particularly for the farms and ranches of his District.

The Monterey County Farm Bureau, founded in 1917, represents family farmers and ranchers in the interest of promoting and protecting agriculture throughout Monterey County, CA. They strive to improve the ability of those engaged in production agriculture to provide a reliable source of food and fiber through reasonable stewardship of their local resources.
