City of King Unfunded Priority Needs Plan Public Hearing on May 14

The City of King has made substantial progress over the past several years in becoming financially solvent. It has come from a $5 million negative General Fund balance to a reserve of over $3 million while addressing a number of other priorities. 2023 was the first time the City had a positive General Fund balance in 20 years.

However, since the City went through such a lengthy financial crisis, there are a number of important needs that have been deferred over a long period of time that are not currently funded. The King City City Council recently approved a draft 12-year plan of the highest priority needs that remain unfunded, which have been identified as street improvements, facility improvements, increased public safety staffing, street and park maintenance staffing and long-term financial stability.

Over the past several months, the City has been undertaking a number of community outreach efforts to educate everyone on the components of the plan. A public hearing has been scheduled at the May 14, 2024 regular City Council meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers to consider revenue strategy options and any recommended changes to the Unfunded Priority Needs Plan resulting from public input. King City City Council Announces Selection of José Arreola as New City Manager

January 7, 2025-Following an extensive recruitment process, José Arreola has been selected by the King City City Council to be its next City Manager. Arreola will replace Steve Adams, who is retiring after serving in the position for the past 10 years. Arreola was selected from 31 applicants and 8 finalists for the position. King City CHP is searching for person of interest who fled the scene of a fatal crash in Greenfield

On Monday, September 16 at approximately 3:50 pm, a fatal traffic collision occurred on Metz Road south of Elm Avenue in Greenfield. The driver who caused the collision fled on foot and is currently outstanding. The California Highway Patrol King City Area is currently seeking the whereabouts of 31-year-old Agustin Santana-Moncada of King City who has been identified as a person of interest in the case. The King City Area is requesting assistance from the public in locating Santana-Moncada. Anyone with information is asked to contact the King City Area office at (831) 385-3216.
