Online Registration is Now Open for The 2024 Home Winemaking and Home Brewing Competitions at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles

 

(PASO ROBLES, CA) – The Central Coast Home Winemaking and Home Brewing

Competitions, hosted annually by the California Mid-State Fair, are now accepting entries.

The Home Winemaking Competition will take place in May and feature wines made from San

Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Monterey counties. The wines are separated into 6

categories: white, rosé/blanc, red, dessert, wines made with fruit other than grapes, and

sparkling. The categories are then separated into classes by varietals. The panel of local

competition judges evaluate each entry according to appearance, aromatics, and taste to

determine an overall conclusion. Gracious support provided by Baker Wine & Grape Analysis,

ETS Laboratories, Michael Rose Cellars, The Vintner’s Vault, and Jacobs Consulting.

The Central Coast Home Brewing Competition will also take place in May and feature beer,

ciders and perry’s made from both San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. Entries will be

evaluated according to aroma, appearance, and flavor to determine an overall conclusion.

Entries are judged by locals chosen for their great knowledge and experience for the fields of

both wine and beer. Ranging from makers, industry insiders or having years of judging

experience, feedback is always our goal with the judges chosen.

Registration for the Home Winemaking Competition runs now through Friday, April 19, 2024.

Registration for the Home Brewing Competition runs now through Friday, May 3, 2024.

King City City Council Announces Selection of José Arreola as New City Manager

  January 7, 2025-Following an extensive recruitment process, José Arreola has been selected by the King City City Council to be its next City Manager. Arreola will replace Steve Adams, who is retiring after serving in the position for the past 10 years. Arreola was selected from 31 applicants and 8 finalists for the position. The King City City Council will formally consider the proposed city manager contract at its meeting on Tuesday night, January 13. Arreola's first day on the job is scheduled to be February 23.    José Arreola has a distinguished career of serving the community with a particular commitment to youth. King City CHP is searching for person of interest who fled the scene of a fatal crash in Greenfield

On Monday, September 16 at approximately 3:50 pm, a fatal traffic collision occurred on Metz Road south of Elm Avenue in Greenfield.  The driver who caused the collision fled on foot and is currently outstanding.  The California Highway Patrol King City Area is currently seeking the whereabouts of 31-year-old Agustin Santana-Moncada of King City who has been identified as a person of interest in the case.  The King City Area is requesting assistance from the public in locating Santana-Moncada.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the King City Area office at (831) 385-3216.
