Man in Bradley Arrested by Monterey County Sheriff's Deputies for Attempted Murder and Other Charges in Stabbing Incident on February 17

Monterey County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a possible stabbing on the 70000 block of Chadwick Drive in Bradley at 9:01 PM on Saturday night, February 17. When Deputies arrived on the scene, they located a victim who had sustained multiple injuries. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries where as of Sunday, February 18 is listed to be in “serious” condition. 

While on the scene, investigating deputies learned that the suspect was known to the victim. The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Raul Galvez. Galvez fled the scene prior to deputies arriving. Deputies were able to determine that Galvez and the victim had become involved in a verbal altercation which became physical. Galvez was reported to have initially produced a knife which he used to stab the victim. Galvez then produced a machete and was able to strike the victim multiple times resulting in injuries. 

While at the crime scene, Deputies received a separate call for service regarding an unidentified adult male requesting medical assistance in a nearby neighborhood. Deputies responded and contacted the individual. During their contact, deputies were able to positively identify the individual as Galvez with the assistance of witnesses. Galvez had initially provided false information about his identity. It was determined that Galvez also had 3 outstanding arrest warrants out of San Luis Obispo County and Monterey County. 

Galvez was arrested without incident and was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for injuries he had sustained during the altercation with the victim. 

Galvez was also booked into the Monterey County Jail on charges of attempted murder, in addition to being booked on 3 confirmed, active arrest warrants.

Monterey County DA Releases Preliminary Information Concerning an Officer Involved Shooting Incident that Occurred Outside of Soledad on December 16

  SALINAS, California- Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. King City City Council Announces Selection of José Arreola as New City Manager
