Statement from Hartnell Community College District Regarding Labor Negotiations with Hartnell College Faculty Association

The Hartnell College Faculty Association (HCFA) has formally requested the assistance of a

mediator to facilitate ongoing labor negotiations. The Hartnell Community College District

received official notice on Monday, October 2, 2023.

The District does not believe that a mediator is necessary at this time. Last week, the district

requested one more meeting to address open issues and find a resolution together. The HCCD firmly

believes in open communication and collaboration with the HCFA and believes further negotiations

would have been productive.

The HCCD highly values their faculty and are committed to coming to a successful agreement that aligns

with their fiscal responsibilities. In doing so, they will ensure the continuation of their student

programs and the District’s efforts to increase student access and opportunity.

As ONE Hartnell, the Hartnell Community College District believes in the power of unity and the ability to reach mutually beneficial agreements. Transparency and collaboration are crucial to their decision-making process, and the District is dedicated to creating the best pathway to support student success.

The District and HCFA will know sometime during the week of October 8 whether a mediator will be appointed.
