City of King Kicks Off Blue Zones Project Weekly Community Walk/Bike/Run Event on September 6

The City of King is launching a new weekly walk/bike/run event in conjunction with the Blue Zones Project, which will kick off on Wednesday, September 6.  The Blue Zones Project is a community well-being initiative designed to implement built environment improvements, food practices, and more active oriented lifestyles associated with areas around the world where people live the longest.

The community is invited to meet at the Town Square at 200 Broadway Street next to the King City Cinemas every Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. for a leisurely 30 minute walk through the community.  Runners and cyclists are also welcome.  It will be an opportunity for everyone in the community to come together and make friends, meet City officials, and promote good health and happiness.  It is intended to be a social activity to have fun while also becoming more active.  Participants can go at whatever speed they choose and have the option of shortening or lengthening their route based on what they feel comfortable with.  Residents of all fitness levels are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Each week will also feature music, raffle prizes and other surprises.  The kickoff on September 6th will include giveaway items and free Blue Zones Project approved food.  The final week will feature a grand prize drawing for a $500 gift card.

The City hopes everyone will make the Community Walk/Bike Run event part of their weekly schedule and bring friends and family.  Please make Wednesday night your regular time to spend in the downtown with your community.  For more information, please contact City Hall at 831-385-3281.
