Ways to Save and Theme Days at the 2023 California Rodeo Salinas

 

SALINAS, CA, July 6, 2023 – The California Rodeo Salinas is coming up July 20-23. Every performance features professional rodeo action along with a theme. Rodeo ticket prices start at $12* for children ages 2-12 and $20* for adults with prices going up $5 per ticket starting on July 17, but there are ways to save on your Rodeo tickets.


Thursday, July 20 is Wrangler Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night. The evening performance is presented by Mechanics Bank and Salinas Valley Health. Patrons can get into the spirit by wearing pink shirts or other clothing items. $1 from each ticket sold on July 20th will be donated to the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Salinas Valley Health. If attendees bring an empty Coca Cola product, they can get a general admission ticket for just $5 on Thursday, July 20 starting at 10am when the Ticket Office opens. That is a $20 savings. Friday, July 21 is Fight Hunger Night featuring a produce mascot race that benefits Ag Against Hunger. The race features local agricultural companies’ mascots racing on the track that surrounds the arena. There are giant vegetables and other mascots in this entertaining race which is presented by AG Land Trust. Friday’s performance is presented by Church Brothers Farms.


Saturday, July 22 is Salute to Military Day as part of the Wrangler National Patriot Program initiative and is presented by Tanimura & Antle. Fans are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue and Active Military and Veterans gain free entry with identification. Sunday, July 23 is the Crown Royal Day of Champions and the first ever Golden Circle of Champions Day at the California Rodeo. The Golden Circle of Champions (GCOC) was established in Santa Maria, CA and has grown to more than ten rodeo committees in California helping to create awareness and generate funds for pediatric cancer and families impacted by it. Some of the past champion families will attend, there will be a booth on the midway and fundraisers happening during the performance. Patrons can also purchase over $75 of Wrangler merchandise at participating western retailers to receive a voucher for a California Rodeo Salinas ticket July 20-23. Ticket prices increase by $5 per ticket starting Monday, July 17 for the California Rodeo Salinas and the Big Week Bull Riding (if tickets are still available). Ticket prices are the same online as they are in-person.

Fatal 3 Vehicle Accident Involving Wrong Way Driver on Highway 101 Outside of King City on January 10

  A fatal multi-vehicle collision happened on Saturday night, January 10 at 9:51 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 outside of King City. According to the King City CHP a 2016 Toyota Tacoma driven by 65-year-old Paul Lee Cooper of Otis, Oregon was heading the wrong way going southbound in the northbound lanes south of Jolon Road, while a 2006 Toyota Corolla driven by 33-year-old Dinora Maribel Gomez of Salinas was heading northbound on Highway 101 south of Jolon Road in the #1 lane and a Honda Accord driven by 36-year-old Ignacio Sangerman of King City was also traveling northbound on Highway 101 south of Jolon Road but was in the #2 lane. King City City Council Announces Selection of José Arreola as New City Manager

  January 7, 2025-Following an extensive recruitment process, José Arreola has been selected by the King City City Council to be its next City Manager. Arreola will replace Steve Adams, who is retiring after serving in the position for the past 10 years. Arreola was selected from 31 applicants and 8 finalists for the position. The King City City Council will formally consider the proposed city manager contract at its meeting on Tuesday night, January 13. Arreola's first day on the job is scheduled to be February 23.    José Arreola has a distinguished career of serving the community with a particular commitment to youth. He has worked for the City of Salinas for 12 years as their Community Safety Program Manager, Community Safety Administrator and Assistant to the City Manager. King City CHP is searching for person of interest who fled the scene of a fatal crash in Greenfield

On Monday, September 16 at approximately 3:50 pm, a fatal traffic collision occurred on Metz Road south of Elm Avenue in Greenfield.  The driver who caused the collision fled on foot and is currently outstanding.  The California Highway Patrol King City Area is currently seeking the whereabouts of 31-year-old Agustin Santana-Moncada of King City who has been identified as a person of interest in the case.  The King City Area is requesting assistance from the public in locating Santana-Moncada.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the King City Area office at (831) 385-3216.
