Road and Lane Closures in South Monterey County on Highway 101, State Route 146 & State Route 198 for the Week of July 23

 

MONTEREY COUNTY –Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, July 23 through Saturday, July 29. 


Highway 101: Main Street/Chualar-Grant Street/Main Street: July 23 – July 28

One lane closure will occur along northbound Highway 101  near the Main Street Overcrossing ; and one-way traffic controls will be in place along eastbound and westbound Main Street/Chualar Street and at the southbound off ramp to Main Street from Highway 101 for work on the bridge from 9 pm to 6 am.


Highway 101: Underwood Road – Greenfield Exit: July 23

One-way traffic controls will be in place along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between Underwood Road and the Greenfield exit for traffic breaks from 5:30 am to 11 am.


Highway 101: Hudson Road: July 23

One-way traffic controls will be in place along northbound and southbound Highway 101 at Hudson Road for traffic breaks from 7 am to 11 am.


Highway 101:  Arroyo Seco Road – Lagomarsino Avenue: July 25

One moving lane closure will occur along southbound Highway 101 between Arroyo Seco Road and Lagomarsino Avenue for spraying operations work from 9 am to 1:30 pm.


Highway 101: Lockwood/San Lucas Road – State Route 198: July 22 – July 27

One lane closure  will occur along northbound Highway 101 between Lockwood/San Lucas Road and State Route 198 for emergency repair work from 7 am  to 4 pm.


Highway 101: First Street - Broadway: July 24 – July 27

One-way traffic controls will occur along eastbound and westbound First Street, Canal Street and Broadway in King City for landscaping and pavement work from 8:30 am to 4 pm. There will also be full closure of the northbound on and off ramps of Highway 101 at Canal Street. The southbound ramp at Canal Street will also be closed from 8 am to 4 pm.


Highway 101: State Route 146: July 24 – July 28

There will be full closure of the off ramp of southbound Highway 101 at State Route 146 for bridge work from 8 pm to 6 am.


Highway 101: Wild Horse Road – Jolon Road: July 24 – July 26

Alternating lane closures will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between Wild Horse Road and  Jolon Road for pavement repair work from 6 am 4 pm. There will also be full closure of the northbound and southbound on and off ramps of the highway.  


Highway 101:  Hobson Avenue – Wild Horse Road: July 26

One moving lane closure will occur along southbound Highway 101 between Hobson Avenue and Wild Horse Road  for spraying operations work from 9 am to 1:30 pm.


Highway 101:  State Route 198 – San Ardo: July 27

One moving lane closure will occur along southbound Highway 101 between State Route 198 and San Ardo for spraying operations work from 9 am to 1:30 pm.


Highway 101:  Camp Roberts Rest Areas: Long-Term

There will be full closure of the Camp Roberts Rest Areas on northbound and southbound Highway 101 for work to upgrade the facility from 10 am to 12 pm.


State Route 146: Highway 101 – Front Street: July 23 – July 28

One-way traffic controls will be in place along eastbound and westbound State Route 146 between Highway 101 and Front Street for work on the bridge from 8 pm to 6 am.

Lake San Antonio Closed Due to Large Scale Fish Die Off; Number of Fish Impacted is Increasing and Reason for Die Off Remains Unknown

July 9, 2024- Out of abundance of caution for public health, County of Monterey Parks is closing the Lake San Antonio facility due to a large-scale fish die off from an unknown cause. On July 5, 2024, Parks staff noticed that dead baitfish, mostly shad, began washing up on the shore around Lake San Antonio and immediately contacted California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) to report the situation. At that time, the CDFW fisheries biologist stated the fish die off was most likely due to the high temperatures and low dissolved oxygen level in the water and that the situation most likely did not present a risk to the public. Suspect Vehicle in King City Quadruple Homicide on March 3 Has Been Located

  The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, on behalf of the King City Police Department is informing the community that the suspect vehicle involved in a quadruple homicide that occurred Sunday, March 3 on the 200 block of North Second Street in King City, has been located and recovered.  The vehicle was located in an unincorporated area of South Monterey County. The King City Police Department is receiving assistance from multiple local and federal law enforcement partners in this investigation. Based on the nature of this investigation, no further details regarding the recovery of this vehicle are being released at this time.   The Monterey County Sheriff's Office and the King City PD are asking the community for their assistance in reporting any information they may know regarding this incident which tragically left 4 people dead and 7 people injured, two with critical injuries. Attempted Homicide Shooting Incident in King City on September 29

  The King City Police Department received a report of gunshots heard in the area of the 600 block of Sycamore Street at around 1 am on Sunday, September 29. While enroute, the King City PD was advised that 2 victims were transported to Mee Memorial Hospital by private vehicle to be treated for gunshot wounds.   Upon arrival, officers were told that a single unknown suspect opened the gate to a fenced yard and fired 10 rounds into a crowd attending a party. 2 individuals were struck by the gunfire, after-which the suspect fled on foot.  The suspect was described as wearing a dark colored hoodie and pants. The 2 victims are a 16-year-old juvenile male who was shot 3 times and an 18-year-old male who was shot 1 time.  Both victims were transported to Natividad Hospital from Mee Memorial and are currently listed in stable condition. Detectives from the King City Police Department are currently working the investigation with assistance from the Greenfield Police Department Crime Scene Unit
