Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni Promotes Emily Hickok as Chief Deputy District Attorney to Lead Her Consumer and Environmental Protection Unit

 

SALINAS, California- Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni is pleased to

announce the promotion of Emily Hickok to the position of Chief Deputy District Attorney of her

Consumer and Environmental Protection Unit.

Ms. Hickok received her Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego, School of Law in 2006,

and her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Criminology, Law and Society from the University

of California, Irvine in 2003.

Ms. Hickok has worked as a Deputy District Attorney in the Monterey County District Attorney’s

Office since 2010. She is assigned to the Consumer and Environmental Protection Unit, where she

prosecutes cases that affect the health of our air, water, and land, as well as other unlawful business

activity that harms consumers and competitors.

During her time in the District Attorney’s Office, she has partnered with other prosecutors

throughout California to resolve cases against large corporations that have violated environmental

laws throughout the state, including cases involving hazardous waste violations against Walgreen

Co., and The TJX Companies Inc. She has also prosecuted asbestos violations against Equity

LifeStyle Properties, Inc. and Pacifica Senior Living LLC and Pacifica Hosts, Inc. These judgments

include injunctive terms that require the companies to comply with the law and perform additional

compliance activities over and above what the law requires.

Ms. Hickok secured criminal convictions against Lolita Garcia for embezzlement from a local

nonprofit organization founded by Garcia, Central Coast Kids and Families, as well as theft from

local public schools and agencies. That prosecution recouped assets totaling over $327,000, which

were paid back to local schools and agencies as restitution.

She currently chairs the Tri-County Environmental Task Force for Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San

Benito Counties, and teaches at the California District Attorney’s Association Consumer Protection

Conferences.

Prior to her joining the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office, Ms. Hickok worked as

Corporate Counsel for CoreLogic Information Solutions, Inc., which is based in Orange County,

California and provides property data and analytical products to the real estate and financial

industries.

Ms. Hickok shared, “Justice can only be achieved through teamwork. I am fortunate to work with

outstanding prosecutors, investigators, forensic auditors, and staff at the Monterey County District

Attorney’s Office. I look forward to continuing the important and impactful work that the Consumer

and Environmental Protection Unit accomplishes on behalf of our local community and the people

Suspect Vehicle in King City Quadruple Homicide on March 3 Has Been Located

  The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, on behalf of the King City Police Department is informing the community that the suspect vehicle involved in a quadruple homicide that occurred Sunday, March 3 on the 200 block of North Second Street in King City, has been located and recovered.  The vehicle was located in an unincorporated area of South Monterey County. The King City Police Department is receiving assistance from multiple local and federal law enforcement partners in this investigation. King City Man Arrested on January 6 for Rape, Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with a Minor and Kidnapping

  According to King City Police Department, on December 30, 2024 a 17-year-old minor female victim reported that she had attended a party on the 100 Block of Bedford Circle on December 24, 2024. During the party, the suspect provided her with alcohol. He then pulled the victim into a bedroom, forcibly removed her clothing and had sexual intercourse with her against her will. This case was investigated by the King City Police Department Investigations Unit which resulted in the apprehension and arrest on January 6, 2025 of the suspect identified as 21-year-old Jesus Oseguera Briseno of King City. Briseno was also booked into the Monterey County Jail charged with Rape, Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with a Minor and Kidnapping.
