Stolen Shelter Dog in Salinas is Returned and Safe!

Salinas, CA  - On Tuesday, April 18, 2023, Hitchcock Road Animal Services asked for the public’s assistance in locating a dog that was stolen from its kennel at the animal shelter. After diligent work by Animal Control Officers and reports from the community, the dog was safely returned to the shelter on Thursday, May 4.

Animal Services is extremely appreciative of the assistance of the community in getting the word out about this missing dog. While arrests did not come to fruition in this case, community input was helpful for Animal Services and assisted in getting the dog returned to the shelter safely. This dog does have medical concerns and will not be available for adoption through HRAS. She will be transferred to an approved local rescue partner who has the resources to further diagnosis her condition and provide any follow up medical care needed before placing her up for adoption. She’s in good hands!
