On Friday, May 12 SPCA Monterey County took in a miniature horse who was found all alone in Salinas. Now we are searching for the mini’s owners.
The miniature horse was found on Thursday, May 11 at the corner of Russell Road and North Main Street in Salinas. The finders housed him overnight on a nearby ranch, and SPCA humane officers picked him up on May 12.
“At this point we don’t know if he is a stray, or if he was deliberately abandoned,” says Jacob Duarte, SPCA Humane Investigations Supervisor. “He was found in a strange area. We are trying to get his photo out into the community to find his owners who are hopefully searching for him.”
If you recognize him, please contact SPCA Monterey County at 831-373-2631.
The miniature horse, a teenaged stallion with appaloosa markings, is now safe at the SPCA, receiving fresh hay, water, love, and care.
Every year, SPCA Monterey County humane officers investigate hundreds of cases of neglect and abuse in our community. To report animal neglect or cruelty, please contact us at 831-373-2631 or online at www.spcamc.org/report. To donate to help, please visit www.spcamc.org/donate.
SPCA Monterey County is your nonprofit, independent, donor-supported humane society that has been serving the animals and people of Monterey County since 1905. The SPCA is not a chapter of any other agency and does not have a parent organization. They shelter homeless, neglected and abused pets and livestock, and provide humane education and countless other services to the community. They are the local agency you call to investigate animal cruelty, rescue and rehabilitate injured wildlife, and aid domestic animals in distress.
