MONTEREY COUNTY – A single lane of Highway 198 is now open 20 miles east of US 101 at San Lucas after temporary repairs were made to a slip out of the roadway.
Crews were able to remove asphalt and add fill beneath the roadway to create an opening for vehicles to pass. This opening is intended for use by locals and for emergency use only.
Crews will continue to monitor the condition of this temporary repair.
Highway 198 remains fully closed due to significant winter storm damage, 6 miles east of this repair, near the Fresno County line.
