Community Resource Center Opens for Pajaro Area Residents

Dozens of community-based organizations are coming together to serve residents in the Pajaro

area who were impacted by flooding. A Community Resource Center featuring local

organizations and agencies will opened on Wednesday, April 19 at Pajaro Middle School.

The Pajaro Community Resource Center will be open this week from 3 pm to 7 pm Wednesday

through Saturday and closed Sunday. Times for next week are still being developed and will be

announced. While cleanup is continuing, recovery from this disaster is a long-term process and

residents need additional help and services that local organizations can provide.

The Center will feature staff, information and referral services by type of need. Community

organizations will rotate manning tables each day to serve residents. Services offered include:

• Mental/Physical Health

• Economic Relief

• Legal Aid/Housing

• Social/Emotional Family Support

• General Community Resources

“County, state and federal assistance has been critical to help residents get back on their feet,”

explains Krista Hanni, Planning, Evaluation and Policy Manager, County of Monterey Health

Department. “Community based organizations are part of the heart of this community - they

live and work among those affected. These groups are a trusted safety net for residents and will

help in ways government agencies cannot.”

More than two dozen Santa Cruz and Monterey County organizations are participating in the

resource center and more are joining. Some of the participating organizations are also noted in

in the Monterey County Resource Guide online at:
