Monterey County Community Housing Conditions Survey Underway; County Staff will document housing in unincorporated County communities beginning December 12

Residents who live in unincorporated areas of Monterey County may see county staff and vehicles in

their neighborhoods beginning the week of December 12.

The County of Monterey Housing and Community Development Department is working on a

Community Housing Conditions Survey and will be visiting various communities in the unincorporated

areas to complete this task.

Residents may see staff in clearly marked County vehicles parked in front of homes, making notes and

possibly taking photographs. County staff participating in this housing survey will be observing

conditions only.

County personnel WILL NOT:

- enter any home

- step onto private property

- conduct any enforcement as part of their work

Residents who see County workers are welcome to inquire as to what they are doing and staff will

provide identification and contact information.

This work is taking place in the unincorporated areas of the county, which will include communities

such as Carmel Valley Village, Castroville, Chualar, Las Lomas, Pajaro, San Ardo, San Lucas, Bradley,

unincorporated neighborhoods adjacent to Salinas, unincorporated Carmel and others.

Staff is documenting the types and physical state of housing in unincorporated areas to get a

comprehensive look at housing conditions and needs. This information will assist the County as it

updates the Housing Element of the County General Plan.
