According to a statement made by the Monterey County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, September 27 scammers are making phone calls and identifying themselves as members of the Sheriff's Office. They are using actual names and ranks of Deputies, Sergeants, and Commanders and soliciting money from victims due to outstanding warrants. The Monterey County Sheriff's Office will NOT call and demand or request any money for any reason. If you get such a call it is a SCAM so do not send any money to them. The Sheriff's Office advises the public to please stay aware and diligent to prevent from being taken advantage of.
