2 King City Gang Members Sentenced to Life in Prison for 2019 Murder of Man in Greenfield

On Thursday, September 29 in Monterey County Superior Court in Salinas, 2 gang members were sentenced to life in prison for murdering a man who was washing his car outside a Greenfield home in January of 2019. 21-year-old Eduardo "Sleepy" Anaya Solis and 24-year-old Jose "Trips" Juarez, both from King City, were convicted in June of 2022 for their involvement in the murder of 19-year-old Charles Adolfo Jose of Greenfield. They, along with 3 other gang members, were looking for a rival gang member to kill and chose Jose because he was wearing red. Jose was outside his friend's home washing his car on 7th Street when he was approached and shot 24 times by Solis and another shooter; six of the bullets hit Jose, while the rest of the bullets hit 2 occupied homes and 3 parked vehicles. Jose was not a gang member and was shot for wearing red outside his friend's home while washing his car. The 5 gang members conspired with and were supplied by Juarez with 3 firearms and disguises for the shooting. After the shooting, Juarez followed the shooter's vehicle from Greenfield back to King City. Juarez bought Mickey's Malt Liquor for Solis and the other occupants to celebrate Jose's murder. Solis received a 50-years, 8 months to Life sentence and Juarez received a 30-years, 8 months to Life sentence. Brayan Urrutia-Flores and Luis Sarabia, two more people allegedly involved in the murder, will face trial sometime in early 2023.

On July 5, 2024, Parks staff noticed that dead baitfish, mostly shad, began washing up on the shore around Lake San Antonio and immediately contacted California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) to report the situation. At that time, the CDFW fisheries biologist stated the fish die off was most likely due to the high temperatures and low dissolved oxygen level in the water and that the situation most likely did not present a risk to the public. Parks staff also contacted the Water Resources Agency (WRA), State Water Resources Control Board and Environmental Health Bureau.   Unfortunately, the fish die off has continued with larger species such as bass, catfish, crappie, carp, and trout being impacted. Attached photos include a 3–4-pound bass.   CDFW, WRA and EHB are working together to try to determi
