Southbound US 101 Ramps at Jolon Road in King City Now Closed

 

MONTEREY COUNTY – Ongoing paving and bridge work on US 101 in King City will continue with the closure on Wednesday, August 24 of the of the southbound US 101 Jolon Rd. offramp and the southbound US 101 Jolon Rd. onramp. This closure will be in effect until the end of September.


 


Temporary concrete railing has been placed along the roadway to block the southbound Jolon Rd. onramp and southbound Jolon Rd offramp. Work on the ramps will be performed behind this railing.


 


Detours are available.


 


Travelers who would otherwise take the southbound US 101 Jolon Rd. offramp will exit at Pi Bar Ranch Rd., then travel on Central Ave. until they reach Jolon Rd.


 


Travelers who would otherwise take the southbound US 101 Jolon Rd. onramp will take Jolon Rd. to Central Ave., and enter southbound US 101 at Pi Bar Ranch Rd.


 


Additionally, the southbound US 101 Canal St. offramp and the southbound Broadway St. onramp, which were previously closed for construction, have been reopened.


 


Message and directional signs will be in place to direct travelers.


 


Travelers can expect delays of up to 10 minutes.


 


The contractor for this $78 million construction project is OHL, USA of Irvine, CA.  This project is expected to be completed at the end of 2022.


 


Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when


driving through highway work zones.

July 9, 2024- Out of abundance of caution for public health, County of Monterey Parks is closing the Lake San Antonio facility due to a large-scale fish die off from an unknown cause. Suspect Vehicle in King City Quadruple Homicide on March 3 Has Been Located

  The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, on behalf of the King City Police Department is informing the community that the suspect vehicle involved in a quadruple homicide that occurred Sunday, March 3 on the 200 block of North Second Street in King City, has been located and recovered.  The vehicle was located in an unincorporated area of South Monterey County. The King City Police Department is receiving assistance from multiple local and federal law enforcement partners in this investigation. King City Man Arrested on January 6 for Rape, Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with a Minor and Kidnapping

  According to King City Police Department, on December 30, 2024 a 17-year-old minor female victim reported that she had attended a party on the 100 Block of Bedford Circle on December 24, 2024. During the party, the suspect provided her with alcohol. He then pulled the victim into a bedroom, forcibly removed her clothing and had sexual intercourse with her against her will. This case was investigated by the King City Police Department Investigations Unit which resulted in the apprehension and arrest on January 6, 2025 of the suspect identified as 21-year-old Jesus Oseguera Briseno of King City. Briseno was also booked into the Monterey County Jail charged with Rape, Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with a Minor and Kidnapping.
