Fatality Announced in King Fire that Broke Out in the Salinas Riverbed Outside of King City on May 25; Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is Seeking Help from the Public


 The Monterey County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that 1 person has been found dead in the area burned by the King Fire. There are no additional details available at this time. The remains have been turned over to the Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division and the investigation is ongoing. Investigators are seeking help from the public and are asking anyone who may have been in or around the fire area late Wednesday afternoon, May 25 to contact the one of two tips lines to share any information about what they may have seen prior to the fire starting. The fire area is in the riverbed behind McDonalds and KFC on Broadway Circle in King City. Information to help the investigators should be directed to:

The King Fire as of Thursday night, May 26 has burned 90 acres and is 90% contained. More information will be provided once it becomes available.

3 Vehicle Accident on Highway 101 in Soledad on December 7

  A 3 vehicle crash ocurred on Highway 101 Southbound near the Front Street exit in Soledad at 4:01 pm on Thursday afternoon, December 7. Minor injuries were reported as a result of the collision. 

1 Vehicle Rollover Outside of King City on October 20

  1 vehicle overturned off of County Road 18 and Frudden Road outside of King City at 2:34 pm on Friday afternoon, October 20. 1 occupant received injuries as a result of the crash and ended up being transported to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas to be treated. The cause of the wreck is unknown.
