On Saturday, May 21 at 6:45 am, Soledad Police Officers responded to a medical emergency at a residence within the city of Soledad that had to do with a narcotic overdose involving a High School student who turned 18 this year and was set to graduate in June. The victim ingested a counterfeit pill that contained fentanyl which caused an immediate medical reaction resulting in death of the victim. Investigators on the scene came across several more counterfeit pills that tested positive for fentanyl. The South Monterey County Task Force which consists of the Soledad Police Department, the Greenfield Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration and Homeland Security Investigations is looking into this young adult's death which is being investigated as a homicide.
