Monterey County Public Works crews along with support crews from Granite Construction are clearing mudslides from the 800 block area of River Road, north of Chualar River Road.
The slide occurred sometime between 9 am and 11 am on Monday morning, December 27. Public Works crews have been patrolling this area as it has been prone to slides from the River Fire burn scar area; slides also occurred here during previous storms.
Crews and equipment were mobilized and began clearing the roadway, using traffic control to keep one lane open for motorists. Both lanes should be clear before dark on Monday, December 27, but motorists using this stretch of roadway are warned to drive with caution as the road remains slick and muddy, and road shoulders are soft.
Because this area is prone to slides, if motorists see debris on this (or any other county) roadway, please call 911

CDFW, WRA and EHB are working together to try to determi
