Salinas, CA -- Dozens of employers from multiple industry sectors are expected to attend the South Monterey County Job Fair at the Soledad Community Center on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 4pm-7pm. The Monterey County Workforce Development Board (MCWDB), the City of Soledad, and the Soledad Parks & Recreation District are teaming up to sponsor the in-person event to help people get back to work locally. “We are strongly committed to serving South Monterey County and are pleased to be partnering with the City of Soledad on this job fair. We look forward to seeing job seekers and employers from all South County communities there and giving them the opportunity to connect,” said MCWDB Executive Director, Christopher Donnelly. Job seekers are encouraged to register for this free event on Eventbrite by clicking here or following the links in the attached flyer. Pre-registration is not required, but it is highly recommended. Job seekers who register by November 7th will receive a list of participating employers and a professional nametag when they arrive. Attendees will also be provided with a mask if they do not arrive with one. Job seekers can expect to meet a variety of employers with current job openings, from entry-level to senior-level positions, and are encouraged to bring multiple copies of their resumes and dress professionally. Some employers will be conducting onsite interviews. Fatal 3 Vehicle Accident Involving Wrong Way Driver on Highway 101 Outside of King City on January 10
A fatal multi-vehicle collision happened on Saturday night, January 10 at 9:51 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 outside of King City. According to the King City CHP a 2016 Toyota Tacoma driven by 65-year-old Paul Lee Cooper of Otis, Oregon was heading the wrong way going southbound in the northbound lanes south of Jolon Road, while a 2006 Toyota Corolla driven by 33-year-old Dinora Maribel Gomez of Salinas was heading northbound on Highway 101 south of Jolon Road in the #1 lane and a Honda Accord driven by 36-year-old Ignacio Sangerman of King City was also traveling northbound on Highway 101 south of Jolon Road but was in the #2 lane. Due to Cooper's level of impairment his vehicle went the wrong way on Highway 101 going directly into the path of Gomez' vehicle causing the rear of her car to crash with the front of the vehicle driven by Sangerman.
