MONTEREY COUNTY – Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for South Monterey County from Sunday, November 14- November 20.
Highway 101: NB Hwy 1 at Wild Horse Canyon Road to First Street : November 15 - 19
CHP will be performing traffic breaks along northbound Hwy 101 at Wild Horse Road to First Street for pavement repair from 8 am – 4 pm.
Highway 101: Southbound Hwy 101 at San Ardo to San Luis Obispo County Line: November 17
CHP will be performing traffic breaks along southbound Hwy 101 at San Ardo to San Luis Obispo County line for a spray operation from 9 am – 3 pm.
Highway 101: NB Jolon Road and First Street: Long Term
CHP will be performing traffic breaks along northbound Highway 101 from Jolon Road northbound to First Street to allow for a paving operation from 5 am - 4 pm.
Highway 101: SB Jolon Road and First Street: Long Term
CHP will be performing traffic breaks along southbound Highway 101 from Jolon Road southbound to First Street to allow for a pavement work from 5 am - 4 pm.
Highway 101: Canal Street – Jolon Road: Ongoing June 30, 2022
The CHP will be performing traffic breaks along northbound Highway 101 between Canal Street and Jolon Road for bridge work along the highway. The traffic breaks will be from 5 am to 4 pm.
Highway 101: Jolon Road: Long Term
There will be full closure of the on and off ramps of southbound Highway 101 at southbound Jolon Road for striping operation work from 5 am to 4 pm.
Highway 101: First Street – Jolon Road, King City: Long Term
There will be one lane closure along northbound and southbound Highway 101 from First Street to Jolon Road for roadway excavation and pavement work from 8 am to 4 pm. Motorists can expect delays of up to 10 minutes.
Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, on behalf of the King City Police Department is informing the community that the suspect vehicle involved in a quadruple homicide that occurred Sunday, March 3 on the 200 block of North Second Street in King City, has been located and recovered. The vehicle was located in an unincorporated area of South Monterey County. The King City Police Department is receiving assistance from multiple local and federal law enforcement partners in this investigation. Based on the nature of this investigation, no further details regarding the recovery of this vehicle are being released at this time. The Monterey County Sheriff's Office and the King City PD are asking the community for their assistance in reporting any information they may know regarding this incident which tragically left 4 people dead and 7 people injured, two with critical injuries.
