Paso Robles to Appoint New Assistant City Manager; Former Bakersfield Assistant City Manager Chris Huot

PASO ROBLES, CA –The City of Paso Robles is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Assistant City Manager, Chris Huot (Hue-Ott), effective January 3, 2022. Mr. Huot was selected after a competitive nationwide recruitment process. Over the past 6 months, the city’s recruiting firm led a rigorous recruitment and selection process. Over 40 applications for the position were received by the city. The process included multiple interview sessions with the community, city staff, and the City Council enabling all participants to provide their feedback to the City Manager prior to the final selection. Throughout the extensive selection process, Mr. Huot consistently ranked as the top candidate. Most recently, Huot served as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Bakersfield, CA. Since 2015, Mr. Huot helped lead California’s fastest growing large city, providing strategic oversight across all city operations and a staff of over 1,800. Since 2019, Huot has overseen a portfolio of departments including Public Works, Technology Services, Human Resources, Risk Management and Finance. Huot began his nearly 14-year local government career in 2008 as a Marketing and Event Specialist within the Economic and Community Development Department for the City of Bakersfield. Huot holds a Credentialed Manager Candidate designation from the International City/County Management Association and he currently serves on the Cal Cities Revenue and Taxation Committee. Huot received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations and a Master of Arts degree in Communications from Texas Tech University. Chris Huot and his wife Elisa were married in Cambria, CA and have a son Clark. “Chris’s track record of success, combined with his broad knowledge and skills leading every facet of a municipality will bolster an already talented city staff. King City CHP is searching for person of interest who fled the scene of a fatal crash in Greenfield

On Monday, September 16 at approximately 3:50 pm, a fatal traffic collision occurred on Metz Road south of Elm Avenue in Greenfield.  The driver who caused the collision fled on foot and is currently outstanding.  The California Highway Patrol King City Area is currently seeking the whereabouts of 31-year-old Agustin Santana-Moncada of King City who has been identified as a person of interest in the case.  The King City Area is requesting assistance from the public in locating Santana-Moncada.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the King City Area office at (831) 385-3216.

Homicide of Inmate at Salinas Valley State Prison in Soledad Under Investigation

  APRIL 8, 2025 SOLEDAD, CA – California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials are investigating an alleged homicide of incarcerated person 36-year-old Joseph Mendoza which occurred on Tuesday night, April 8, 2025, at Salinas Valley State Prison (SVSP) in Soledad. At approximately 5:39 p.m., staff observed incarcerated persons 30-year-old Edgar Frayre and 32-year-old Nicolas Young attacking Joseph Mendoza with improvised weapons on the dayroom floor in Facility C. Staff immediately responded and issued several verbal commands to stop, which were ignored. Staff then deployed multiple less-than-lethal use-of-force options, which ultimately quelled the incident. Frayre and Young were secured in handcuffs. Medical aid was initiated for Mendoza; however, he was pronounced deceased at 6:10 p.m. Medical evaluations were conducted on Frayre and Young, and no serious injuries were reported.
