Road and Lane Closures on Highway 101 in South Monterey County

MONTEREY COUNTY – Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, October 24 through October 30. Highway 101: Canal Street – Jolon Road: October 25 – October 29 The CHP will be performing traffic breaks along northbound Highway 101 between Canal Street and Jolon Road for bridge work along the highway. The traffic breaks will be from 8 am to 4 pm. Highway 101: Northbound Broadway: October 25 – October 29 There will be full closure of the on ramp of northbound Highway 101 at northbound Broadway Street for bridge work from 8 am to 4 pm. Highway 101: Southbound First Street: October 21 – October 22 There will be full closure of the off ramp of southbound Highway 101 at southbound First Street for striping operation work from 9 pm to 5 am. Highway 101: Canal Street: October 21 – October 22 There will be full closure of the on and off ramp of southbound Highway 101 at southbound Canal Street for striping operation work from 9 pm to 5 am. Highway 101: First Street: October 28 – October 29 There will be full closure of the off ramp of southbound Highway 101 at First Street for striping operation work from 9 pm to 5 am. Highway 101: SB Canal Street: October 28 – October 29 There will be full closure of the on and off ramps of southbound Highway 101 at Canal Street for striping operation work from 9 pm to 5 am. Highway 101: Broadway Street – First Street: October 28 – October 29 There will be one lane closure along southbound Highway 101 from Broadway Street and First Street and full closure of the on ramp to highway at southbound Broadway for striping operation work from 9 pm to 5 am. Highway 101: Jolon Road: October 29 There will be full closure of the on and off ramps of southbound Highway 101 at southbound Jolon Road for striping operation work from 5 am to 4 pm. Highway 101: First Street – Jolon Road, King City: Long-Term There will be one lane closure along northbound and southbound Highway 101 from First Street to Jolon Road for roadway excavation and pavement work from 8 am to 4 pm. Motorists can expect delays of up to 10 minutes. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

King City City Council Announces Selection of José Arreola as New City Manager

  January 7, 2025-Following an extensive recruitment process, José Arreola has been selected by the King City City Council to be its next City Manager. Arreola will replace Steve Adams, who is retiring after serving in the position for the past 10 years. Arreola was selected from 31 applicants and 8 finalists for the position. The King City City Council will formally consider the proposed city manager contract at its meeting on Tuesday night, January 13. Arreola's first day on the job is scheduled to be February 23.    José Arreola has a distinguished career of serving the community with a particular commitment to youth. King City CHP is searching for person of interest who fled the scene of a fatal crash in Greenfield

On Monday, September 16 at approximately 3:50 pm, a fatal traffic collision occurred on Metz Road south of Elm Avenue in Greenfield.  The driver who caused the collision fled on foot and is currently outstanding.  The California Highway Patrol King City Area is currently seeking the whereabouts of 31-year-old Agustin Santana-Moncada of King City who has been identified as a person of interest in the case.  The King City Area is requesting assistance from the public in locating Santana-Moncada.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the King City Area office at (831) 385-3216.
