MONTEREY COUNTY – Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, October 17 through October 23.
Highway 101: Canal Street – Jolon Road.: October 18 – October 22
The CHP will be performing 15-minute traffic breaks along northbound Highway 101 between Canal Street and Jolon Road in King City. The traffic breaks will be from 8:30-8:45 am and 11:30-11:45 am each weekday.
Highway 101: Northbound Broadway: October 18 – October 22
There will be full closure of the on ramp of northbound Highway 101 at northbound Broadway Street in King City for bridge work from 8 am to 4 pm.
Highway 101: Southbound First Street: October 21 – October 22
There will be full closure of the off ramp of southbound Highway 101 at southbound First Street in King City for striping operation work from 9 pm to 5 am.
Highway 101: Canal Street: October 21 – October 22
There will be full closure of the on and off ramp of southbound Highway 101 at southbound Canal Street in King City for striping operation work from 9 pm to 5 am.
Highway 101: Broadway Street: October 22
There will be full closure of the off ramp of southbound Highway 101 at Broadway Street in King City for striping operation work from 5 am to 4 pm.
Highway 101: Broadway Street – First Street: October 21 – October 22
There will be one lane closure along southbound Highway 101 from Broadway Street and First Street and full closure of the on ramp to highway at southbound Broadway in King City for striping operation work from 9 pm to 5 am.
Highway 101: Jolon Road: October 22
There will be full closure of the on and off ramps of southbound Highway 101 at southbound Jolon Road in King City for striping operation work from 5 am to 4 pm.
Highway 101: First Street – Jolon Road, King City: Long-Term
There will be one lane closure along northbound and southbound Highway 101 from First Street to Jolon Road in King City for roadway excavation and pavement work from 8 am to 4 pm. Motorists can expect delays of up to 10 minutes.
Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.
Monterey County DA Releases Preliminary Information Concerning an Officer Involved Shooting Incident that Occurred Outside of Soledad on December 16
SALINAS, California- Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni on December 19 released preliminary information concerning the officer involved shooting (OIS) which occurred at about 1:20 a.m. outside the city of Soledad on December 16, 2025. Just before 1:00 a.m., Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputy Carlos Pina, who has been a peace officer for 10 years all with MCSO, and Deputy Blain Councilman, each in separate patrol cars, were dispatched to 32097 McCoy Road. A resident at the farm labor camp reported a suspicious individual with a handgun whose white Honda 4 door sedan was parked in space 18 at the complex. Before parking there, the suspect drove around and around, stopped in front of the reporting party’s (RP’s) truck, and got out. The RP could hear music.
