During the week of July 18, Monterey County Sheriffs Deputies in South County responded to a report of gunshots and headlights of a vehicle leaving the area of Highway 198 and Highway 25, south of King City. Deputy Baugh responded and located a vehicle leaving the area. He stopped the truck for an equipment violation and immediately saw animal hooves sticking up from the truck bed. The three occupants of the truck were safely detained due to the high likelihood of firearms being inside the vehicle. Deputies searched the truck and located 2 wild pigs and 3 rabbits in the bed of the truck which had been illegally killed.
