UPDATE on Fireworks Show and 4th of July Jamboree at Fort Hunter Liggett

FORT HUNTER LIGGETT, Calif. –Fireworks will light up the sky at Fort Hunter Liggett on America’s 245th birthday, capping an evening of live entertainment, food, carnival games and rides for all ages. The first-ever July 4th Jamboree, hosted by Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, will take place at the Fort Hunter Liggett Multi-Purpose Range Complex from 5-10 p.m., with entertainment by The Stagecoach Three and Soundhouse Productions, two local bands that will be performing throughout the evening. The Stagecoach Three will play country music from 5:30-7:30 p.m., and Soundhouse Productions will be onstage with various genres of music from 7:30 until the professional fireworks show, which begins at 9:30 p.m. Festival goers are welcome to bring their own chairs and blankets. Free water will be available to be sure everyone stays hydrated, and bottled water and soda will also be sold. There will also be a beer and wine tent for those age 21 and over. Entrance to the event is $5.00 per person, CASH ONLY. Children ages 5 and under enter FREE. Parking is located at the corner of Jolon and Sam Jones roads, and will be open at 3:00 p.m. A shuttle service will be available to transport participants to the event area. Parking will be available for disabled patrons at the MPRC entrance. Directional signs will be posted on Jolon Rd. Fort Hunter Liggett Directorate of Emergency Services will be conducting bag inspections at the entry gate and no unauthorized items will be allowed to be taken to event area. Participants are advised to wear closed-toed shoes and to expect dust and hot weather. In order to make this a safe event for all, there will be no tailgating, outside food or beverages, or coolers allowed, except for empty soft-sided coolers. Camera bags and many other large, non-transparent bags will not be allowed. Among the many prohibited items include scissors, razor blades, weapons, fireworks, drones, matches, tents, canopies, barbecues, or golf-sized umbrellas. The FD will also have a command post at the event. § The parking area is approximately one mile from the festival site. Nobody will be allowed to walk there due to rugged terrain and environmentally protected areas. § Google maps coordinates for the parking area are: 35°56'13.4"N 121°07'26.3"W § All participants except for those using the disabled parking area will board a shuttle to and from the festival site. § The Multipurpose Range Complex (MPRC) is located on Jolon Road.

Monterey County DA Releases Preliminary Information Concerning an Officer Involved Shooting Incident that Occurred Outside of Soledad on December 16

SALINAS, California- Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni on December 19 released preliminary information concerning the officer involved shooting (OIS) which occurred at about 1:20 a.m. outside the city of Soledad on December 16, 2025. King City City Council Announces Selection of José Arreola as New City Manager

January 7, 2025-Following an extensive recruitment process, José Arreola has been selected by the King City City Council to be its next City Manager. Arreola will replace Steve Adams, who is retiring after serving in the position for the past 10 years. Arreola was selected from 31 applicants and 8 finalists for the position. The King City City Council will formally consider the proposed city manager contract at its meeting on Tuesday night, January 13. Arreola's first day on the job is scheduled to be February 23. José Arreola has a distinguished career of serving the community with a particular commitment to youth. King City CHP is searching for person of interest who fled the scene of a fatal crash in Greenfield

On Monday, September 16 at approximately 3:50 pm, a fatal traffic collision occurred on Metz Road south of Elm Avenue in Greenfield. The driver who caused the collision fled on foot and is currently outstanding. The California Highway Patrol King City Area is currently seeking the whereabouts of 31-year-old Agustin Santana-Moncada of King City who has been identified as a person of interest in the case. The King City Area is requesting assistance from the public in locating Santana-Moncada. Anyone with information is asked to contact the King City Area office at (831) 385-3216.
