Zoom Discussion from San Antonio Valley Historical Association about the Indians Ranch at Los Padres National Forest Scheduled for May 22
A talk on ZOOM about the history of The Indians Ranch in the Los Padres National Forest is planned for Saturday, May 22 at 4:30 p.m. The public is invited.
The event is being sponsored by the San Antonio Valley Historical Association as a replacement for its annual Spring Tour of areas in Southern Monterey County. The Special guest will be Leonard Tavernetti, a former King City resident, who is the author of Sagebrush Shangri-La, a description of the Indians Ranch in the 1940s and 1950s.
Additional insight will be given by Thomas Pettitt, son of former owners of the ranch, Jim and Helen Pettitt, and Leonard’s brother David Tavernetti. All three men grew up visiting the ranch in their youth.
Also planning to speak at the event will be representatives of the Encinales Adobe and the Salinan tribe, as well as representatives of the United States Forest Service, which currently owns the property.
