El Centro man Arrested for Sexual Abuse of an underage Child in South Monterey County



According to a news release put out on Monday, January 13 from Soledad Police Chief Damon Wasson, Detective Gomez was informed on December 3, 2019 of a past tense sexual abuse incident involving a 7-year-old child. The victim who is now 14-years-old provided Detective Gomez and the Salinas Child Advocacy Group a statement indicating continual sexual abuse from the suspect. Using social media and other investigation techniques, Detective Gomez was able to identify the suspect as 59-year-old Ramon Mendoza of El Centro, California. The investigation revealed electronic messages where the suspect corroborated the victim's sexual abuse allegations. Detective Gomez partnered with the Monterey County District Attorney's Office and implemented a plan for the arrest of Mendoza. Based on the evidence, the Monterey County Superior Court issued an arrest warrant for multiple sexual abuse charges against Mendoza. On Wednesday, January 8, Detective Gomez, the Monterey County District Attorney's Office and local Southern California law enforcement personnel contacted and arrested Mendoza in Thermal, California. Mendoza was booked into the Riverside County Jail as he awaits extradition and a court appearance. The Soledad Police Department encourages anyone who has been the victim of abuse or that is currently being abused to come forward and report it to local law enforcement.   SALINAS, California- Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni on December 19 released preliminary information concerning the officer involved shooting (OIS) which occurred at about 1:20 a.m. outside the city of Soledad on December 16, 2025. King City City Council Announces Selection of José Arreola as New City Manager

  January 7, 2025-Following an extensive recruitment process, José Arreola has been selected by the King City City Council to be its next City Manager. Arreola will replace Steve Adams, who is retiring after serving in the position for the past 10 years. Arreola was selected from 31 applicants and 8 finalists for the position.
