E. Coli Outbreak pertaining to romaine lettuce in Salinas is over



According to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released on Wednesday, January 15, two 2019 outbreaks of E. coli connected to agriculture in Salinas have been officially reported as over.
The CDC posted the follow up information on their website that says that "This outbreak appears to be over. The CDC is no longer advising that people avoid romaine lettuce from the Salinas Valley growing region in California."
In November of 2019, the CDC advised the public to stay away from all lettuce grown in the Salinas Valley, while in December, the CDC also reported an outbreak from contaminated Fresh Express Sunflower Crisp chopped salads.
With this statement, the CDC also released final numbers for the outbreaks.
Overall, the Salinas Valley lettuce outbreak had 167 reported cases in 27 states. Of those cases, 85 people were hospitalized, including 15 people who developed hemolytic uremic syndrome which a certain type of kidney failure.
The chopped salad kit outbreak had 10 reported cases in five states. Of those cases, four people were hospitalized and one person developed hemolytic uremic syndrome.
No deaths were reported in either case.

3 Vehicle Accident on Highway 101 in Soledad on December 7

  A 3 vehicle crash ocurred on Highway 101 Southbound near the Front Street exit in Soledad at 4:01 pm on Thursday afternoon, December 7. Minor injuries were reported as a result of the collision. 

1 Vehicle Rollover Outside of King City on October 20

  1 vehicle overturned off of County Road 18 and Frudden Road outside of King City at 2:34 pm on Friday afternoon, October 20. 1 occupant received injuries as a result of the crash and ended up being transported to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas to be treated. The cause of the wreck is unknown.
