The Centers for Disease Control and partners continue to investigate an outbreak of E. coli infections reported during the week if November 24, 2019 linked to romaine lettuce grown in Salinas, Calif., and distributed nationally. 102 people have gotten sick from 23 states as of Wednesday, December 4, 2019.
The CDC continues to remind people that if you have romaine lettuce or products that contain romaine with labels saying “grown in Salinas,” don’t eat them. This advice includes all brands and use-by dates. Throw them away. Greenhouse grown and hydroponic lettuce are not included in the warning.
If the lettuce isn’t labeled with a growing region, or if you don’t know whether your salad mix or wrap contains romaine, don’t eat them. You can read the latest information online by going to: https://go.usa.gov/xpXg8.
