WHY: Cut trees are composted, not land-filled. Recycling holiday trees reduces waste to the landfill & greenhouse gas production. Salinas Valley Recycles is working for a future without landfills.

HOW: Remove all tinsel, lights, decorations and stands; no flocked trees
• For curbside pick-up service, place trees next to your yard waste cart on your regular collection day. Larger trees (5 ft or greater) should be cut into 3-foot sections and placed in your yard waste cart.
• For drop-off, simply drive in and drop off your tree at the designated tree recycling station.  In exchange, receive a coupon for “buy one cubic yard, get one free” for recycled mulch or wood chips from Vision Recycling, redeemable at the Sun Street Transfer Station.
