With winter upon us, we would like to remind everyone to be cautious in the way you heat your home. Some of the common mistakes made that lead to house fires are:
- Fireplace with no fire screen
- Dirty chimney or wood stoves
- Space heaters too close to the wall, drapes or bedding
- Open flames such as candles
- Damaged electrical equipment
- The use of multiple extension cords connected to each other
- Christmas trees near heat sources (such as a fireplace or heater)
