SALINAS, California- Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni announced on Friday, November 22 that 50-year-old Navneet Mathur of Mountain View was convicted of driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) level above 0.08%.
On July 7, 2018 at approximately 6:30 p.m., County Communications received a call from a citizen driving on Highway 101 near King City, who reported that a vehicle was swerving over the median line multiple times. The vehicle, driven by Mathur, was stopped within minutes by California Highway Patrol Officer Jeremy Patch. After an initial investigation and completion of Field Sobriety Tests, Mathur was arrested for DUI and chose to submit to a blood test. The blood test results from the California Department of Justice determined that his BAC level was 0.114%. At trial, the 911 caller testified that he called 911 because he thought the defendant “was going to kill someone.”
On November 21, 2019, Judge Efren Iglesia sentenced Mathur to five years of probation, 5 days in the Monterey County jail, and ordered him to complete a three-month first offender DUI program.
