Panetta Announces Over $6 Million Grant for California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery

WASHINGTON, DC – On Wednesday, September 25, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) announced that the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery was awarded a federal grant totaling $6,417,059.00 from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) National Cemetery Administration (NCA).  The grant will be used for the expansion of the cemetery.
"Local leaders, community members, and veterans have worked long and hard for the Central Coast Veterans Cemetery.  This federal investment adds to that ongoing effort by helping the cemetery meet the goals for its master plan.  I thank Senator Bill Monning for his ongoing work and advocacy at the state level to help open the cemetery and now ensure that the cemetery evolves," said Congressman Panetta.  "Together, we will continue to work to ensure the advancement of the Central Coast Veterans Cemetery so that our community can continue to provide a lasting tribute to those who served our country."
"The approval of funds by the federal government for the next phase of construction at the Veterans’ Cemetery is great news for the community.  This could not have been accomplished without the support of Congressmember Jimmy Panetta and I want to thank him for his unwavering commitment to veterans," said California State Senator Bill Monning.
This grant will fund the construction of 1,842 pre-placed crypts, 1,039 in-ground cremains gravesites, 80 memorial wall plaques, roadway, landscaping, and supporting infrastructure.  The project will develop 5.6 acres, enabling the cemetery to provide continued service for approximately 84,400 Veterans and their eligible family members.

Attached photos include a 3–4-pound bass.   CDFW, WRA and EHB are working together to try t...
