On Thursday morning September 12 at around 1:40 AM, police officers in Greenfield conducted a bicycle stop on the 50 block of Tom Rogers Circle involving 34-year-old Carlos Montes. As officers attempted to stop Montes, he fled and eventually was stopped. Montes was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm in his waistband and was taken into custody for several charges which include possession of a loaded firearm not registered to him, possession of a stolen firearm, evading police officers on a bicycle, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of probation. Montes was booked into the Monterey County Jail.
