Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni announced on Wednesday, August 28 that King City resident/transient, Jarrod Houx, age 37, was convicted of lewd conduct in public and indecent exposure. Judge Thomas Wills presided over the two- day jury trial.
On March 11, 2019, Houx was charging his cellphone in the visitors area of Mee Memorial Hospital in King City. The woman immediately left the room and reported the incident to hospital security.
One week later, on March 18, 2019, Houx was on the corner of Division and Canal Streets in King City where he exposed himself to another woman. The victim was driving her car in the vicinity when Houx pulled his pants down, exposing his genitals. She immediately reported this to the King City Police Department. During the trial, the victim testified she recognized Houx from another incident, where he was outside of a bakery in King City and exposed himself to customers and employees in the bakery after he was asked to leave the location.
During the jury trial, Houx admitted to 2 other incidents where he exposed himself at a local college and a movie theater at an undisclosed location.
This case was investigated by King City Police Department Sergeant Perez and Officer Baughman.
When Houx is sentenced on September 27, 2019, he faces up to 2 years in the County Jail and will have to register as a sex offender pursuant to California Penal Code Section 290.
