The push to have a courthouse built in Greenfield is continuing as Greenfield Councilmembers along with residents from the community were at the State Capitol in Sacramento on Tuesday, July 16 to make their case as to why there needs to be a courthouse constructed in South Monterey County. Greenfield City Councilwomen Angela Untalon and Nely Martinez along with former Greenfield Mayor John Huerta made the trip. District 1 Monterey County Supervisor Luis Alejo announced on Tuesday, July 16 that Monterey County Superior Court recently refused to give merited priority to the city of Greenfield for a Courthouse, despite its promise that was made over 10 years ago and despite letters from cities, the County and people who work in agriculture, business & labor. Councilwoman Untalon said that they will keep pressing on to show the Judicial Council that Greenfield and all of South Montery County really needs a courthouse. More details will be released in mid August regarding where the city of Greenfield's proposal to receive funding to help build a courthouse is ranked through the Judicial Council.
