According to an Audit Report submitted by an outside agency recently Lake Nacimiento is in need of expensive repairs that could cost more than $50 million. District 3 Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez said that the issues that need to be addressed have to do with ongoing maintenance involving some of the pipes that have some corrosion, while some of the infrastructure needs to be updated and improved regarding the technology consisting of monitoring the impact of water that comes out of the stoway. Lopez also stated that the report recommended that there needs to be more operational improvements done involving dam safety monitoring by reprioritizing some of the job duties with certain employees at the Monterey County Water Resource Agency. Lopez indicated that this will probably go to a public 218 vote which is a property owner vote involving what projects they'd like to see take place at the Lake Nacimiento.
