Resolution 489, Condemning President Trump's racist comments directed at Members of Congress was introduced on Monday night, July 15 which District 20 Congressman Jimmy Panetta cosponsored and voted in favor of on Tuesday, July 16.
Congressman Panetta says:
I cosponsored & hope my colleagues, Republican & Democrat, will join me to vote for a resolution condemning racist tweets towards fellow Members of Congress by the President. That demagoguery is beneath not just those in leadership of America, but must be beneath all Americans.
The offensive comments made by the president about my colleagues are unacceptable and wrong. As a Congress and as a people, we value our diversity and we must demand more from a president who swore an oath to protect and defend all Americans.
