King City Rustler Newspaper sold

The King City Rustler Weekly Newspaper is now under new ownership through the New SV Media Group which is a Publisher based in San Jose. The announcement was made on Monday, July 1 in Watsonville by President Nickolas Monico of News Media Corporation located out of Rochelle, Ilinois that had owned the Rustler for over 23 years. This is only the 3rd change in ownership for the weekly paper since it began publication 118 years ago. The Rustler was family owned from 1901 until 1995, while NMC owned the Rustler from 1995 through the middle of 2019. The Greenfield News, the Soledad Bee and the Gonzales Tribune which are sister papers of the Rustler were also purchased by the New SV Media Group. Outside of South Monterey County The New SV Media Group also owns newspapers in Santa Cruz, Watsonville, Gilroy, Morgan Hill, Hollister and San Jose. South County Newspapers Publisher Jeanie Johnson said that having this new Ownership group based in San Jose will provide them with more resources that were not available to them before which should make a difference with their production layout and the quality of their editorial content. One of the reasons why NMC sold the Rustler to New SV Media Group was so that they could provide more attention to what they own and operate in the Midwest.
