On April 11 & 12, P,G & E contract crews will be working in Monterey County to conduct accelerated wildfire safety inspections of substations using helicopters. These inspections are are part of the company's wildfire safety efforts that were implemented following the 2017 and 2018 wildfires as additional precautionary measures intended to further reduce wildfire risks. The helicopters will fly over substations in Monterey, Carmel, Carmel Valley, Salinas and King City. Depending on clear weather conditions the helicopters will be flying over the substations between 10 am and 4 pm at an altitude from the ground at no lower than 250 feet for 10 minutes or less. All of the helicopters will follow all of the safety standards and FAA regulations.
