Greenfield High student earns SVF Scholarship

The Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Foundation announced on Thursday, December 13 that they have named Ivan Trujillo, a Junior at Greenfield High School, as their 2019 Heritage Foundation Scholarship recipient. Scholarship Chair Ralph Rianda said that Trujillo's dedication to his community and agriculture helped him stand out among the applicants and added that the committee recognized Trujillo’s leadership potential in his local community and his aspirations beyond.  As the Heritage Foundation Scholarship winner, Ivan Trujillo receives a $2,500 scholarship, a commemorative belt buckle, and is reimbursed for all expenses associated with raising his market goat for this year’s Fair. All of the proceeds from the sale of his animal will benefit the Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Foundation and on-going projects at the Salinas Valley Fair. Trujillo’s dedication to agriculture and his community has peaked while he joined the Greenfield FFA organization.  He has raised ducks, rabbits and goats throughout his FFA career and is currently serving as the Greenfield High School FFA Chapter President and Monterey Bay FFA Section Vice President. Trujillo’s teachers & the Greenfield High School faculty describe him as “the first to step up and volunteer and volunteer his time” and a “positive influence among his peers.”

Suspect Vehicle in King City Quadruple Homicide on March 3 Has Been Located

  The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, on behalf of the King City Police Department is informing the community that the suspect vehicle involved in a quadruple homicide that occurred Sunday, March 3 on the 200 block of North Second Street in King City, has been located and recovered.  The vehicle was located in an unincorporated area of South Monterey County. The King City Police Department is receiving assistance from multiple local and federal law enforcement partners in this investigation. 3 Vehicle Accident on Highway 101 in Soledad on December 7

  A 3 vehicle crash ocurred on Highway 101 Southbound near the Front Street exit in Soledad at 4:01 pm on Thursday afternoon, December 7. Minor injuries were reported as a result of the collision. 

1 Vehicle Rollover Outside of King City on October 20

  1 vehicle overturned off of County Road 18 and Frudden Road outside of King City at 2:34 pm on Friday afternoon, October 20. 1 occupant received injuries as a result of the crash and ended up being transported to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas to be treated. The cause of the wreck is unknown.
