Puppy stolen from Animal Shelter

Monterey County Animal Services is asking for the public’s help to find a puppy that was stolen from the county shelter on Hitchcock Road on Friday night, September 14. Shelter workers found the young dog missing early Saturday morning, September 15. It appears this puppy was targeted by thieves, who broke into the shelter overnight and kidnapped the young dog, a 3 1/2 month old male Labrador mix, black with white on his paws and chest. Salinas Police are investigating the break-in and shelter workers are reviewing surveillance footage in hopes of identifying the thieves. The puppy had already been adopted by a local family and was scheduled to go home with them during the week of September 16. Shelter workers are urging whoever stole the dog to return it so it can go home with it's rightful family. If you have any information that might help, please call Monterey County Animal Services at 831-769-8850 or the Salinas Police Department.
