7 people arrested in Monterey County sting operation



Sometime early on Thursday morning, August 9, the Salinas Police Department with assistance from SVSP, State Parole, CHP, MCSO, Monterey Peninsula SRU, HSI, ATF and FBI served a total of  6 search warrants as part of an on going criminal investigation. Three of the search warrants were in the city of Salinas and were executed at 15 Geary Circle, 569 Sunrise Street and 1430 Linwood Drive, while the remaining warrants were served at Cordoba Street and Barcelona Street in Soledad and Lagomarsino Avenue in Greenfield.
Detectives located a half pound of heroin, 1.5 pounds of cocaine, 10 ounces of methamphetamine, several thousand dollars in US currency, 3 handguns, 1 rifle, one shotgun, body armor, ammunition, and high-end merchandise, including products by Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Rolex, Fendi and specialized jewelry.

The following persons were arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail that included:

27-year-old Alejandro Cruz for possession of a firearm and for possession of methamphetamine for sales on Cordoba Street in Soledad
24-year-old Eric Lopez for felony in possession of a firearm and possession of body armor  on Barcelona Street in Soledad
49-year-old Enrique Lopez for felony in possession of a firearm and ammunition on Barcelona Street in Soledad.
22-year-old Destinee Zavala for possession of heroin and cocaine for sales, possession of a stolen firearm, and gang conspiracy on Linwood Drive in Salinas
23-year-old Gabriel Vasquez for possession of heroin and cocaine for sales, possession of a stolen firearm, and gang conspiracy on Linwood Drive in Salinas
25-year-old Arturo Carreon for possession of heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine for sales and gang conspiracy on Geary Circle in Salinas
55-year-old Frank Guzman for possession of cocaine and methamphetamine for sales and an arrest warrant on Geary Circle in Salinas.

The Salinas Police Department appreciates the assistance and support provided by the listed agencies and look forward to the expansion of these partnerships as they continue their efforts to reduce crime and improve the quality of life within the city of Salinas and the greater county of Monterey.
The Salinas Police Department and other agencies arrested 7 people early Thursday morning after conducting search warrants in Salinas, Soledad and Greenfield and a man is lucky the injuries he received after being hit by Tractor outside of King City weren't life threatening.

July 9, 2024- Out of abundance of caution for public health, County of Monterey Parks is closing the Lake San Antonio facility due to a large-scale fish die off from an unknown cause. Suspect Vehicle in King City Quadruple Homicide on March 3 Has Been Located

  The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, on behalf of the King City Police Department is informing the community that the suspect vehicle involved in a quadruple homicide that occurred Sunday, March 3 on the 200 block of North Second Street in King City, has been located and recovered.  The vehicle was located in an unincorporated area of South Monterey County. The King City Police Department is receiving assistance from multiple local and federal law enforcement partners in this investigation. Based on the nature of this investigation, no further details regarding the recovery of this vehicle are being released at this time.   The Monterey County Sheriff's Office and the King City PD are asking the community for their assistance in reporting any information they may know regarding this incident which tragically left 4 people dead and 7 people injured, two with critical injuries. Attempted Homicide Shooting Incident in King City on September 29

  The King City Police Department received a report of gunshots heard in the area of the 600 block of Sycamore Street at around 1 am on Sunday, September 29. While enroute, the King City PD was advised that 2 victims were transported to Mee Memorial Hospital by private vehicle to be treated for gunshot wounds.   Upon arrival, officers were told that a single unknown suspect opened the gate to a fenced yard and fired 10 rounds into a crowd attending a party. 2 individuals were struck by the gunfire, after-which the suspect fled on foot.  The suspect was described as wearing a dark colored hoodie and pants. The 2 victims are a 16-year-old juvenile male who was shot 3 times and an 18-year-old male who was shot 1 time.  Both victims were transported to Natividad Hospital from Mee Memorial and are currently listed in stable condition. Detectives from the King City Police Department are currently working the investigation with assistance from the Greenfield Police Department Crime Scene Unit
