Lorenzo Park in King City for day 2 of the AIDS Lifecycle Bike run on Monday, June 4.
Over 2000 cyclists began the 545 mile journey on Sunday, June 3 in San Francisco and are
expected to reach Los Angeles by Saturday, June 9. This year's AIDS Lifecycle Bike Run has brought in a record $16.6 million for people living with HIV and AIDS. Megan Reilly, a recruiter for the AIDS Lifecycle Bike Run said that people can get involved with next year’s event by going online to AIDSlifecycle.org or call (323)860-7361. Cyclists will be stopping through Paso Robles sometime on Tuesday, June 5.
Lake San Antonio Closed Due to Large Scale Fish Die Off; Number of Fish Impacted is Increasing and Reason for Die Off Remains Unknown
July 9, 2024- Out of abundance of caution for public health, County of Monterey Parks is closing the Lake San Antonio facility due to a large-scale fish die off from an unknown cause. On July 5, 2024, Parks staff noticed that dead baitfish, mostly shad, began washing up on the shore around Lake San Antonio and immediately contacted California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) to report the situation. At that time, the CDFW fisheries biologist stated the fish die off was most likely due to the high temperatures and low dissolved oxygen level in the water and that the situation most likely did not present a risk to the public. Parks staff also contacted the Water Resources Agency (WRA), State Water Resources Control Board and Environmental Health Bureau.
