The King City City Council on Tuesday night, February 13 agreed at their regular meeting at City Hall to move forward with a CCA Program. City Manager Steven Adams says that the Community Choice Aggregation Program will give King City the chance to be a power provider for the city. However, PG&E will still transmit all of the power. This program will allow King City to bring in revenue that will benefit the community such as charging lower rates, providing street lights, possibly buying a solar power plant along with purchasing solar panels on low income households. The King City City Council also approved a purchase and sale agreement to buy property on the 300 block of Broadway so that they can construct a new downtown plaza. Adams is very excited about this project, but stated that it's going to take some time to receive funding to begin the work and added that the purpose of this new downtown plaza will be to attract more people and businesses to the area.
