February 5 is the
deadline to respond to the 2017 Census of Agriculture. While the census is nationwide, that deadline
also affects California. The USDA sent
some 3 million questionnaires to producers in December. In California, just under 22 percent have
responded. The national rate is just
over 23 percent. How you respond affects
production
practices, farming technologies, and broadband expansion. Several groups
will use the data to decide community planning, technology development, farm
advocacy and assistance programs and more.
